I have worked for over ten years in the humanitarian sector - counseling persons involved in traumatic experiences and supporting administratively; victims of torture, street mothers and refugees. This is what I studied to do. However, art really is the beat of my heart. From the time I learned to hold a pencil I doodled, I drew. My notes throughout my entire life are filled with sketches. In all the jobs I have had, I infused art. Most times images find their way into my mind. It may be a scene I see or a word I hear that triggers my imagination to work. My response is to bring them to the light of day - using canvas and acrylics.Currently based at the Go Down Art Centre, I'm exploring the use of both brush and palette knife to create paintings that are a platform to the conversation around hope and joy.
